Testimonials

I took lessons with Adam for several months and I have developed a lot better control and development of my head voice. I always struggled with tension and difficulty in opening up my head voice even with previous teachers I worked with. But now after working with Adam, I went from effectively no head voice control to applying it to songs when I record (and it sounds good!). I also understand my voice better and know what I need to do to continue improving. Adam has a well-structured approach to teaching and has the ability to approach things from different angles to get results when you're struggling. Overall, Adam is a wonderful, talented, and very encouraging teacher that I highly recommend!

Singing was always one of those things I thought it would be nice to learn how to do, but never got around to. When Covid hit I realized how many goals I was putting off, so when things started to open up again I thought, why not give it a shot? I had never sung before in my life outside of the car, and singing in front of a complete stranger was nerve-wracking to say the least. But Adam is an extremely calming teacher and puts you right at ease. Having never taken singing lessons before, I had no real idea what to expect. Over the past 18 months I've learned proper technique so I can project and sing without hurting my voice, breathing, how to read music and keep time, and a bunch of different songs. I've even expanded my range a little. Within a year I was confident enough to join a choir, and I sing weekly with a great group of people. I'd recommend Adam to anyone thinking of learning how to sing for the first time, or getting back into it after a break. He really knows his stuff and is super friendly and professional. Hearing yourself make music you never would have imagined is magical!

Each time after completing a lesson with Adam, I find myself singing no matter where I am or where I'm going. I feel the desire to sing because my voice feels open, relaxed and enhanced by newly acquired skills. Whether we're focusing the position of the larynx or how to pronounce vowels in foreign languages, I leave each lesson having gained new insights, knowledge, and a newly kindled desire to make music. In addition, Adam is a gifted teacher who can effectively communicate any concept in a variety of ways- I would recommend him to anyone!

If, for whatever reason you want to sing better, I highly recommend that you check out Adam Dyjach.  I used to practice singing daily and got good results. At some point I got lazy and decided that everything was hunk-dory and that if I didn’t use it, I wouldn’t lose it. Wrongo. Adam is getting me back in tenor shape with his excellent breathing and vocal exercises, many of which are new to me, even though I have taken classes with other instructors in the recent past. Most of those other instructors were excellent, and I’m very glad I worked with them. But Adam’s qualifications, expertise and geniality place him ahead of the group. Like I said: Highly Recommended.

As a retired person, I joined the Linden Singers, an auditioned choir in Victoria. My wife (a piano teacher) recommended that I take singing lessons with Adam as she had done. Over the last year I have benefited enormously from the lessons. Adam is a dedicated teacher and encourages his students to go beyond their comfort zone to achieve something that I did not know was possible for me.  That is to sing solo and as the only Bass voice in an SATB quartet.  Gaining the skills necessary to do this has made the lessons and practice involved a highly worthwhile pursuit. It has also allowed me to become a much more useful member of the choir. I am able to hear a note or phrase once and repeat it with reasonable accuracy, and find intervals. I have learned to monitor my breathing and transition from chest voice to head voice smoothly. In addition, the technical part of  Adam’s teaching, his lessons are good fun and meeting other students and singing with them has greatly improved my rhythm and ability to sing my part against another voice. That has been a rewarding and has been a really fun part of the whole lesson experience.  I really encourage others to take lessons from Adam, young and old, it is a wonderful journey.

My singing has considerably improved since I started to have voice lessons with Adam. In particular, we've been working on mixing head and chest voices, which is very important to a tenor. In principle, I would prefer to have in person lessons, but my lessons with Adam have been so productive that I decided to continue to have online lessons with him even though I am living in another country.

I have been singing for as long as I can remember, but I started taking lessons because I wanted to improve my range and technical abilities. Adam has been invaluable at helping me achieve these goals and in the past year of our lessons I have noticed substantial improvements in my vocal abilities. In addition, I write music and Adam has always been so encouraging and positive while helping me shape the music I write to work with my voice. I highly recommend lessons with him if you are looking for a friendly, supportive, and progressive teacher to help you find your voice!

Adam's lessons are well-organized, insightful, and expertly crafted. Through my lessons with Adam, I've been able not only to improve my vocal ability, but also gain a greater understanding of what I need to improve on. Lessons with Adam will help anyone improve their vocal quality, range, and confidence. I would recommend vocal lessons with Adam to anyone who wants to smartly, safely, and efficiently improve their vocal skills.

Adam is a gifted music teacher who facilitates a comfortable, supportive environment and philosophy.  Our son insisted that thirty minutes was not long enough and that he needed a full hour with Adam!  His piano and voice lesson is the one thing each week that he always looks forward to and we are so grateful for the joy it brings to our son's life.   Adam is unconditionally accepting, respectful and positive and we highly recommend him as a music teacher!

I worked with Adam for two years, starting in the eighth grade. He encouraged me to approach singing as a craft and to aspire to heights I hadn't imagined I could reach (and I don't just mean those high notes!). Great guy, wonderful teacher.

 — Eva

I continue to appreciate Adam's responsiveness to my needs and musical tastes. His knowledge, enthusiasm, constructive advice and sense of fun make him a great teacher!

— Bruce

I really like singing with Adam because he doesn't make me feel bad when I am off tune or don't get the words right, he always encourages me and makes me feel good. I really like my lessons!

I have been singing in choirs for over 50 years but have only been taking lessons for 4 or so. I’ve had 3 or 4 voice coaches and Adam is the best. His lessons help me learn the parts in musical theatre, and to generally improve my voice and signing. My lessons with Adam have extended my range and improved my tonality and helped me learn the bass parts in Carmen (in French no less). Adam’s lessons are fun and a wonderful mix of technical development and repertoire improvement.  I recommend him to anyone who wants to improve their voice, regardless of age or level.  He is not only good with adults who know how to sing already (like me), he is also good with kids: my 8-year-old granddaughter also has a great time in his lessons and is gaining confidence.  Even though she doesn’t like singing in front of people, she recently staged a Christmas concert for her family.  And you know what? He’s not only a fine musician and great teacher, he' just a really nice guy.

I have always loved singing but I find it difficult to sing in front of others and lessons can be expensive. Adam’s skills, kind demeanor and affordable prices allowed me to continue with singing lessons when I otherwise could not have. His willingness to find songs I enjoyed and his attention to technique and detail made the lessons both fun and useful. I found his feedback very specific and therefore easy to remember and apply when singing outside of the lesson.  I would recommend Adam to anyone looking for a vocal coach, especially those who are nervous or timid like myself!

— Morghan

You can quote me on saying that “Adam’s teaching has made me better at singing and gave me a deeper appreciation for music as a whole. I am permanently grateful for coming across such a wonderful instructor early on in my life and I would recommend him to anyone wanting to learn how to sing.

I was recommended to hire a coach by a singing group I was a part of a few years ago.  Figuring I had nothing to lose and everything to gain, I did some research and was intrigued with Adam's website and approach to teaching.  Fast forward and I've been working with Adam now for the better part of the last year and a half.  In that time, I've been so elated to see singing develop from a natural raw passion into a craft I can meaningfully develop, practice, and study.  Lessons are things I always look forward to, especially when I make key breakthroughs in my technique and practice. Every element of how and even why I sing has transformed in our time working together.  Seemingly all of a sudden, singing involves more posture, more breathing, more preparation, and more structure than it ever did before.  Each of these little subtle changes results in a completely different vocal creation.  Adam brings a methodical approach that tailors and tweaks directly to the needs of my voice and the goals I'm pursuing.  He challenges me in such kind and intentional ways, seeing potential and opportunity in my voice where sometimes I don't or can't.  Confidence in particular is something that stands out in how he's helped me.  I sing with way more power, volume, and freedom now.  My comfort level stretching my range is also something that has developed a great deal.  I can sing at the extremes of my range with better efficiency and consistency than I used to be able to now.  This has been fabulous as it expands my potential repertoire.  A final stand-out is how much better I can project and amplify my sound in performance settings, where sometimes being the sole person singing a part adds some pressure. Hard as we may work together though, there's always been space and time for fun, banter, and reflection.  We laugh louder than we often sing in lessons and I wouldn't have it any other way.  This attentive camaraderie ensures that the journey to great singing is as much about teaching as it is friendship for Adam.  I can't recommend his teaching highly enough, even if you've worked with vocal coaches before.  Adam's lessons and guidance have made singing more meaningful to me than it has ever been for me.

Before starting lessons with Adam, I wasn’t fully aware of my capabilities. I only sang alto in choir and never explored my higher range. My original goal was to expand my range and gain guidance in preparing for university voice auditions. Adam has taught me many different techniques and with his help I was able to discover that I can easily sing in the high soprano range. I have noticed a big difference in my voice in and outside of the lessons. We have worked on making the transition between chest and head voice more controlled and seamless and he has been extremely helpful in suggesting audition repertoire for university. Not only is Adam a great teacher, but he is also very kind, compassionate and really values his students. He has even taken time outside of lessons to help with my postsecondary goals. I recently finished recording my university requirements with his support and I definitely couldn’t have done it without him.

Throughout my life I've always liked singing but never got the chance to properly study it. I took lessons with Adam for a year and a half and I saw great progress on my voice and technique. With Adam I had a safe space to explore singing and I learned several warming up exercises that were fun to practice. He was very open and patient with me as most times I would bring the songs that I wanted to explore and he would adapt to them. I recommend Adam to anyone who wants to explore singing in a fun, safe and versatile way. He's very knowledgeable and approachable too.

— Ingrid

After almost 10 years of working on my voice, I have improved the most over my time with Adam. He has the ability to turn your entire body into an instrument and shows you how to apply vocal techniques in a practical way. As a recording artist and songwriter, Adam has made my vocals sound cleaner, stronger, and increased my range. I can’t thank Adam enough for helping me improve my voice with every lesson.

— Adam

In the few short months that I have been taking lessons with Adam, I have discovered things that my voice can do that I had never thought possible. I would especially recommend Adam to anyone who is looking to master mixing their chest voice and head voice together. Adam's patient and approachable demeanour has made navigating through the vulnerability of singing a joy instead of something to be feared.

Adam Dyjach is a conscientious, organized, and thoughtful singing teacher. He provides clear and knowledgeable feedback, and has a variety of strategies to offer students. The lesson is well structured, according to my needs and requests, and his friendly manner and positive approach are appreciated. It has been important for me to learn from another tenor, particularly in establishing strategies to navigate the passaggi (transition points) and bringing greater consistency to my voice throughout the tenor range. Adam has the background and experience to work with singers of many different levels.

— Timothy

I’ve had some experience with voice teachers before, but was looking for someone with a more technical understanding of the voice. Adam's ability to demonstrate and communicate clearly has allowed me to progress greatly in the few months we've been working together.

— Sam

I decided to take voice lessons as an adult to improve my skills for choral singing and have been very happy studying with Adam. He is a kind and dedicated teacher who goes above and beyond to find interesting and challenging repertoire and is always very supportive during the lesson. He begins each lesson with vocal exercises geared to improving my range and control and my singing has improved enormously as a result. I would highly recommend him as a teacher for anyone wanting to develop their vocal skills with all genres of music including classical, pop, and broadway musicals.
